Spice Runtime Versions

Each project deployment uses the latest Spice runtime version on the project's update channel: Stable (the default), Preview, or Nightly. Select the channel in Settings > Runtime. See Runtime. Visit the Releases page or Spice OSS blog to check for the latest runtime updates.

Upgrade to Spice 2.0

A project on the Stable channel that still runs Spice 1.x shows a Spice 2.0 is available banner in Settings > Runtime. Select Upgrade to Spice 2.0 to move the project to Spice 2.0. The upgrade also updates its spicepod.yaml to the Spice 2.0 format.

  • For a project connected to GitHub, Spice prepares the spicepod.yaml changes for the repository. Merge the pull request, or commit the changes to spicepod.yaml.
  • Deploy the project to apply the change.

If Spice 2.0 cannot load the current spicepod.yaml, the banner lists the errors to fix first. See the upgrade guide for the configuration changes between Spice 1.x and 2.x.
