# Spice Runtime Versions

Each project deployment uses the latest Spice runtime version on the project's update channel: **Stable** (the default), **Preview**, or **Nightly**. Select the channel in **Settings** > **Runtime**. Visit the [Releases page](https://github.com/spiceai/spiceai/releases) or [Spice OSS blog](https://spiceai.org/blog) to check for the latest runtime updates.

## Upgrade to Spice 2.0

A project on the Stable channel that still runs Spice 1.x shows a **Spice 2.0 is available** banner in **Settings** > **Runtime**. Select **Upgrade to Spice 2.0** to move the project to Spice 2.0. The upgrade also updates its spicepod.yaml to the Spice 2.0 format.

- For a project connected to GitHub, Spice prepares the spicepod.yaml changes for the repository. Merge the pull request, or commit the changes to spicepod.yaml.
- Deploy the project to apply the change.
