# Sign in with GitHub

Sign in to the Spice Cloud portal with your GitHub account, then continue to create your first Spice project.

> You need a GitHub account to create a Spice Cloud account. [Create a GitHub account](https://github.com/signup) if you do not have one.
>
> After the first sign-in, you can also sign in with a passkey.

## From the Spice.ai website

1. Go to [spice.ai](https://spice.ai/) and click on **Sign In** in the top right corner.
   1. You can also navigate directly by URL to [spice.ai/login](https://spice.ai/login)
2. Click **Continue with GitHub** to login with your GitHub account.
3. Click **Authorize Spice.ai Cloud Platform**.
4. You will be redirected to the **new project page.**

## Sign in with a passkey

After your first sign-in, you can add a passkey and use it instead of GitHub. A passkey can be Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a hardware security key.

1. Click the profile picture in the top right corner, then click **Settings**.
2. In the **Security** section of **Account settings**, click **Add passkey** and follow the prompts of your browser.
3. On [spice.ai/login](https://spice.ai/login), click **Sign in with a passkey**.

To remove a passkey, open the same **Security** section and delete it from the list.
